We are seeking a passionate and energetic Gymnastics Teacher to join a team, working with children aged 18 months to 8 years old. The ideal candidate will have experience in gymnastics and a genuine love for working with young children. The role involves teaching foundational gymnastics skills, fostering a fun and safe environment, and contributing to the physical and social development of our young athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Coaching:
– Teach basic gymnastics skills, including tumbling, balance, flexibility, and coordination exercises, tailored to different age groups.
– Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the developmental stages of children aged 18 months – 8 years old.
– Ensure that all activities are safe, engaging, and conducive to the physical development of the children.
Class Management:
– Manage groups of young children, maintaining an organized, positive, and fun class environment.
– Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs and abilities of each child, providing encouragement and support.
– Maintain discipline and handle any behavioural issues in a constructive and positive manner.
Safety & Supervision:
– Ensure the safety of all children during gymnastics classes by closely supervising activities and enforcing safety rules.
– Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure it is safe and in good condition.
– Administer first aid if necessary and handle any accidents or incidents according to the gym’s safety protocols.
Communication:
– Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns.
– Work collaboratively with other coaches and staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality program.
Professional Development:
– Stay updated on the latest gymnastics techniques, child development principles, and safety standards.
– Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications:
Experience:
– Prior experience teaching gymnastics, particularly to young children, is highly preferred.
Education:
– High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification in gymnastics coaching or early childhood education is a plus.
Skills:
– Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Patience, creativity, and the ability to engage and motivate young children.
– Strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
– Ability to demonstrate gymnastics techniques and participate in physical activities.
– Must be able to lift and carry equipment and assist children in activities as needed.
Working Conditions:
– Work is primarily conducted within School gymnastics area
– Monday – Friday 0930 – 6:30pm, Saturdays 10am – 4pm.
